Yusheng Liu

I’m a fifth-year PhD candidate at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign (UIUC) in Prof. Hua Wang’s lab. My research focuses on engineering cell membranes with chemical biology approaches to tag, probe, and modulate cells in vivo. I study cell surface RNA in dendritic cell–T cell interactions and develop proximity labeling strategies to map immune synapse dynamics and better understand T cell activation. In parallel, I apply computational protein and antibody design, docking, and molecular dynamics to investigate immune receptor–ligand interactions and guide molecular engineering.
Outside the lab, I enjoy hiking, cycling, and cooking—activities that bring balance and creativity to my scientific work.
